ABOUT MARCH OF CROWS 2016
UPDATE: On June 3rd, I will be performing many of the songs from the "March of Crows" project at The Citizen in Jersey City. 50% of the door will go to benefit York Street Project, a local charity that is focused on empowering women in need. The performance will feature 21 songs, from both MOC and my other releases. Additionaly, the artwork that originally inspired the MOC songs will be projected during the performance. In the spirit of keeping this project truly local, I'll be performing alongside only Jersey City musicians.
All the songs from written and recorded for March of Crows, Jersey City are now available for sale exclusively through the player below. I'm pleased to announce that 50% of all proceeds will go to The York Street Project, a Jersey City charitable organization that is a weaving of innovative programs which provide an environment to shelter, feed, educate and promote the healing of persons in need, especially women, children, and their families.
"March of Crows" is an interdisciplinary collaborative project devised by singer-songwriter Shayfer James. The first "March Of Crows" is collaboration between Shayfer, 16 visual artists, 3 Poets, a director, a Choreographer a lighting designer, and videographer, all based out of Jersey City.
The process begins with visual art. Shayfer has written, and recorded 16 songs using the work of local artists as prompt. The task was to not only communicate the art through words, but also by incorporating different styles and textures to capture the life of the work.
